About Us

Dean’s List Inc. is a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit. Dean’s List Academy serves as a community resources center that supports individuals with developmental challenges. Our mission is to help individuals of all ages and abilities to fulfill their potential by providing quality programs and services in a spirit of love and friendship.

We serve an exceptionally diverse group of people; providing them with the resources, education, and recreation they need to lead happy, healthy, and productive lives as citizens of our great state. We offer a wide variety of programs for people of all ages and interests. Dean’s List was conceptualized to help reduce the limiting effects of disabilities on individual lives. We hope to serve as a model in Rhode Island on best approaches in supporting individuals with disabilities. We will continue to provide the services and supports they need to fully develop their potential and purse their passions. We believe that if people are given the opportunity to pursue what they are passionate about they are more likely to succeed. Individuals with disabilities want the same things out of life: friends, a home and meaningful activity each day. At Dean’s List we use a three part approach:

1) Education: Dean’s List offers a variety of educational programs to help provide life skills. Individual are assessed and given an opportunity to develop an individualized program and activities plan. This is achieved through collaborations and the dedication of our volunteers.

2) Job Training: We provide opportunities for on the job training and employment at our Ukulele Café, Fabric Store and Donation Center on a daily basis.

3) Socialization: Developing and leveraging community engagement activities allows for frequent social encounters with the general public. Socialization and integration are vital for individuals living with disabilities as it prepares them for the real world. At Dean’s List we work to provide opportunities for meaningful community engagement activities, all while helping individuals identify their passions. Through activities that range from promotion of events to running the Ukulele Café, peer support allows for a unique dynamic which helps individuals transition into gainful and steady employment outside of Dean’s List.
